Units of Study

7th Grade

Art 7 is an introductory middle school class which focuses on the Elements of Design, craftsmanship(neatness), and work ethic.  While there are many goals within the art curriculum, it is of prime importance that the student artist be taken from their current skill level to one of a more advanced level within the school year.  



Units of Study include but are not limited to:

  • Drawing Fundamentals

  • Value Studies

  • Drawing and Painting from Life

  • Texture and Abstraction

  • Functional Arts such as weaving and pottery

  • Art History





Multi-Media Arts 1&2

This course focuses on developing foundation skills in media and technology based art and design.  Skills will include photography, animation, video, image manipulation, graphic design, web design, and more!

8th Grade

Art 8 focuses on fine-tuning skills and craftsmanship, while developing and increasing student knowledge in the area of fine art, art history and careers in art.



Projects include but are not limited to:

  • Self-Portrait
  • Watercolor Landscape
  • All forms of hand-built clay construction
  • Drawing with Pastel and Charcoal
  • Texture Paintings
  • Photography experimentation
  • Creating in the style of an artist(

Ceramics & Sculpture

​This course is designed for students who have successfully completed Art I, and wish to develop advanced 3-D art skills.  This is a foundations course which focuses on building skills with sculpture and clay media, as well as an introduction to functional arts and fibers.  Students will create ceramics pieces using basic handbuilding techniques, sculpture from recycled materials(both 2D and 3D), papier mache’, and clay, kinetic sculpture, weaving, fiber works and more.
